FOUNDATIONS

Paw State U’s Foundations Class is made up of 5 “blocks” of learning.  Each block consists of working different exercises in different scenarios from life.  Each exercise is repeated in several blocks.  As you progress, you will repeat some of the modules, but you will be working the exercises at a higher level.  It will be exciting to see how far your dog has progressed!

When you register for Foundations, you will start with the Orientation Block.  This is offered every 2 weeks approximately, then you can attend any of the other blocks in any order you wish.  You are not tied to one day or one time.  You can attend any of the scheduled blocks you want.

Common Questions

What are Foundation Blocks?

This is a unique way to take a group class with your dog.  Instead of being stuck with a fixed schedule, the Blocks offer incredible flexibility and convenience.  You can start any time, work on any of the skills you want, and in any order.  This is the ultimate convenience for you .

When do I start?

When you register, I’ll contact you to schedule you in an Orientation Block.  After that, you attend any of the blocks you want, when you want.

How do I register?

Just fill out the Enrollment Form.  You can Pay Online too!

Can I skip a week?

Yes!  That’s what’s exciting about Foundation Blocks!  You come to the sessions that are convenient for you.  If you have to skip a night, you have other opportunities to make it up!

Can my aggressive dog come to Foundation Blocks?

No.  Aggressive dogs will need private lessons for one-on-one training.  Foundation Blocks are for dog-friendly and people-friendly dogs.

Why don't you have Basic Obedience classes?

Basic Obedience classes were created to prepare a dog for the Novice Obedience Competition ring.  Most pet owners don't need the very stylized routines that are used in the obedience ring.  We prefer to give the "foundation skills" that you can use again and again to teach and learn new behaviors throughout your dog's life.

I have a puppy.  Do you have puppy classes?

Yes!  Check out our Puppy 101 classes!  Puppies learn foundation skills while covering topics specific to puppies.
